In this particular case study, we will analyse the transformation of Mr G’s Bowling website, which has successfully generated over 650 bookings amounting to nearly £30,000 exclusively from bowling alone in just 6 months.

Who are they?

Mr G’s Bowling are a family owned business with a 6 lane bowling centre and restaurant based in Brandon, Suffolk.

What were the goals?

Mr G’s had an existing website that was temporarily disabled during the pandemic. Their previous website had an uninviting and gloomy design, lacking any booking functionality apart from a simple contact form.

The primary objective of the new website was to portray the business as a vibrant and enjoyable destination, accompanied by a booking system that would effectively prevent overbookings.

How could I support?

Given the inoperability of the old website, I undertook a comprehensive redesign process, incorporating captivating website copy and employing the services of a local photographer to capture new professional images. The revamped design featured vibrant and lively colours that aligned with their existing branding.

To enhance the user experience, I integrated a user-friendly booking form directly into the website. This form facilitated not only bowling reservations but also expanded the booking options to include restaurant tables and carvery bookings. This broader range of offerings provided increased opportunities for bookings beyond their core bowling services.

Recognising the significance of search engine optimization (SEO), I conducted thorough research to identify high-volume search terms relevant to their industry. Subsequently, I strategically implemented these keywords throughout the website to maximize their chances of attracting greater web traffic.

The transformation brought about significant improvements for Mr G’s, as evidenced by the following results:

a) Increased Bookings:

Since the website’s relaunch, Mr G’s has experienced a substantial rise in online bookings. In just over six months, the bowling bookings alone have accumulated a value of nearly £30,000. This achievement highlights the effectiveness of the new website in generating a high volume of bookings.

b) Enhanced Website Performance:

The overall performance of the website notably improved following the transformation. Load times were significantly reduced, spam messages were minimized, and there was a notable increase in website visitors and inquiries. These enhancements greatly enhanced the user experience, resulting in a more efficient and enjoyable interaction with the website.

c) Improved Search Engine Visibility:

Through strategic SEO optimizations, Mr G’s achieved a notable improvement in their website’s visibility on search engines. The implementation of targeted keywords resulted in higher rankings for relevant search terms, attracting increased organic traffic to their website.
